2013 Season - Week 20

BUMSBowl XVIII

Aaron will play in his first BUMSBowl as he came back from 12-0 down to Ron after the AFC Championship game behind a Marshawn Lynch run and a Colin Kaepernick pass to Anquan Boldin to win 26-23. Rather than being intercepted with his final throw to Crabtree in the endzone, if Crab had caught the TD Ron would be in his first BUMSBowl as he’d have won 29-29 on the third player in the tie-breaking rule! Aaron will face Wayne who heads to his third BUMSBowl after his third giant-killing in as many weeks. In the Wildcards the 10 seed beat 7 seed Johnnie 33-12, in the divisionals he upset #5 seed Cheryl 42-26 and now he has defeated Chief (the 2nd seed) 26-10 mainly as his kicker Matt Prater outscored Chief’s (Stephen Gostkowski) by ten points. The best team would have put up 47 points for $9.5m (Brady 9pts $3m, Prater 14pts $2m, Edelman 6pts $0.5m, Boldin 6 $0.5m, Kearse 6 $0.5m and one either D. Thomas or Lynch 6pts at $3m). So it’s The Wolves versus The Dreams for BUMSBowl XVIII. Prices will be out in next weeks newsletter and you’ll need to get your teams in by noon Saturday February 1st. First come first served but wait for the prices fellas. All-BUMS Voting Don’t forget to vote for your favourite players of 2013. Remember I need (in order) your top 3 Running Backs and top 3 Receivers plus your number 1 & 2 Quarterbacks, Kickers and Coaches. Vote for your players based on BUMS points (see attached), how much you enjoy them, what they meant to their BUMS/NFL team or just the fact they were on your roster. The deadline is Friday January 31st (9 days away) so get your votes in as soon as possible. Previous League MVPs include last year’s winner (and also 2009 MVP) Adrian Peterson, 2011’s MVP Rob Gronkowski, 2010 winner Arian Foster and Larry Fitzgerald MVP in 2008. BUMS on ProBowl and Superbowl Seats The ProBowl is played this Sunday (a week before the Superbowl) and we will be meeting at Johnnies on Monday from 6pm to see it. Let him know if you are going, he’ll be running his ProBowl silliness game. Meanwhile the Superbowl on Sunday February 2nd will feature the record scoring Denver Broncos offensive juggernaut, driven by Peyton Manning taking on the Legion Of Boom and the ultra-tough Seattle defense. On the other side of the ball Marshawn Lynch will try his Beast-mode against 335 pound Terrance “Pot Roast” Knighton. Denver handled the Patriots quite convincingly while Seattle only won when Malcolm Smith intercepted Kaep’s end zone pass to Crabtree with just 30 seconds left. Superbowl XLVIII is on Sunday February 2nd on Channel 4 with kick-off at 11.30pm & Cheryl will be cooking a USA feast, for 10:30pm so let us know if you can make it. It will be an unbiased meal of Fresh Pacific Fish from Pikes Market (Seattle) washed down with bottles of Coors Lite (Denver)– or maybe not. We’ll be playing all the usual games, more information on them next week.
